Skellefteå is growing fast. The establishment of the Northvolt battery factory requires many new employees and drives a large move-in in the city.
How can Skellefteå municipality address this new situation in a way that, through electrification and active municipal support, would create a more inclusive society?
The theme of the application is mobility hubs and services for the local community, which would help newcomers quickly gain access to sustainable services and participate in the local community. As a preparatory project, its aim is twofold: to create a conceptual ground for testing mobility hubs in the city and to develop the capacities necessary for piloting and scaling them.
Considering the complexity of the mobility hubs that would require a set of interconnected innovations of different natures (technology, organisational and business models, governance innovations), the transformative portfolio approach will be explored as a mechanism to govern them. The specific objectives of the project include:Understand the current situation in the city in terms of an ecosystem of actors, their current and future roles and capacities to collaboratively implement mobility hubs as a system innovation for a climate-neutral and inclusive mobility system in Skellefteå.Strengthen collective capacities to manage a transformative portfolio of interventions for mobility hubs.Derive and communicate learnings and implications for relevant actors, locally, nationally and internationally.
