Agricultural crisis and food provision uncertainties are reshaping the discussion about food security and agriculture.
FoodAct contributes to enabling action for sustainable food security by analyzing and developing agroecological perspectives on food systems.
FoodAct will describe, analyze and develop agroecological transformations unfolding in Sweden, Italy and Chile to provide empirical evidence for action for sustainable food security using agroecological perspectives in times of uncertainties and crises.
Our specific objectives are toProvide a better understanding of the opportunities that exist for new approaches to sustainable food security based on agroecology by analyzing how current agricultural crises affect food provision.Strengthen cooperation and knowledge among practitioners and farmers for agroecological transformations that can contribute to other farmers’ re-orientation of their farming systems.
FoodAct will achieve this goal through participatory research and the organization of technical visits using a farmer-to-farmer approach where agroecological and non-agroecological conventional farmers visit each other´s farms in each country.Analyze institutional barriers for agroecology-based food security, using participatory methods for a more effective engagement of farmers in policymaking.Provide practical guidance to farmers and policy makers on how to develop agroecology to transform food systems for sustainable food security.
