Education in collaboration for strengthened competence management in railway and public transportation

Purpose and goal:

Aim of the project is to better match the competence needs in the railway and public transport industry with students at courses and educational programs in communication and transport systems. The objectives are to: 1. develop and document a model for collaboration between university and industry. 2. increase the visibility of the railway/public transport industry in the courses.

3. increase knowledge about the industry and its challenges through a new industry-specific course. 4. increase the attractiveness of the education programs and increase the number of enrolled students. Expected results and effects:

We will implement the new developed parts successively in existing educational programs together with industry stakeholders, meaning that students will benefit from the project directly.

There is a large demand within the industry to develop competence provision and therefore we believe there are good possibilites to continue the collaboration built-up in the project also after the project has ended.

The collaboration model and the developed activities are continously documented through out the project and will be compiled in a final report, which can be shared with others. Approach and implementation: Five workpackages: I. DEVELOPMENT OF MODELS FOR COLLABORATION AND KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER decides how we will work in the project.

II. IMPROVED INDUSTRY CONNECTION IN EXISTING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND COURSES is done via a survey of existing education, where we identify development potential. III. DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW CANDIDATE COURSE ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND RAILWAY is done with intended course start fall 2023. IV. INTERNSHIPS AND THESIS PROJECTS IN THE INDUSTRY

are offered together with the industry. V. RECRUITMENT to the educational programs via better information on career opening.
