Grant Description

Large-scale geodata is important for municipal operations and the construction sector for planning, building and managing the city. In the absence of national specifications for large-scale geodata, this data varies between different municipalities.

This has led to efficiency problems for those operating across municipal borders, difficulties in creating a national profile for 3D city models and software providers not being able to effectively develop services. At the national level, National specifications for geodata are developed.

This is done within the framework of Lantmäteriet´s government mission “Smartare samhällsbyggnadsprocess” together with other stakeholders, e.g. authorities and municipalities. There is an important connection between the National Specifications for geodata and the 3D city models, where the latter will lay the foundation for future digital twins.

It is therefore important that the development of the National specifications for geodata and specifications for city models takes place in parallel.

The long-term goal is for National Specifications for geodata to support all the needs of the municipalities (and indirectly the construction sector). Achieving this goal requires extensive work over a long period of time. This project contributes to this long-term work through three specific objectives:1.

Identification of which themes of the National specifications for geodata that should be prioritized for e.g. climate adaptation, as well as the connection between these themes and the municipalities´ 3D city models (digital twins).2. Prepare preliminary National specifications for geodata and its measurement instructions for priority themes.3.

Practically evaluate the National Specifications for geodata in their development stage.

The evaluation must take place against applications within climate adaptation and the construction of digital twins in a community building perspective.
