Purpose and goal:
The project´s aim is to have an environmentally and financially sustainable ski industry in Sweden. Hence, the objectives are:
To optimize the telescopic rod manufactured in the one feasibility study towards the extended LCA analysis that will be carried out. To develop the manufacturing method of the poles so that they become cheaper Develop an environmental coating/painting method for biocomposites
Optimize the ski manufacturing from the preliminary study so that it can also handle the demands of professional skiers. Develop a flux weave to increase the strength/stiffness. Expected results and effects:
The project will lead to future productions of environmentally sustainable products for winter sports. Today there are currently few sustainable and bio-based materials. An environmentally conscious clientele that also demands high quality gives expectations of increasing market shares.
Equipment for sports, has often had a leading role with new materials and concepts since safety aspects are not as extensive as in, for example, the automotive and aviation industries. Therefore, we believe that it is an important industry that can pave the way for other industries. Approach and implementation:

With similar issues between the two preliminary studies, we believe that the project can help each other and more quickly lead to good results. The project is divided into six work packages (AP) according to: AP1: Project management, AP2: Fördjupad LCA, AP3: Material development and painting, AP4: Prototype development, AP5 Prototyp-testning and exploitation. KangPole leads the project technically, while RISE handles the administration for Vinnova/Bioinnovation.
