Purpose and goal: The purpose of the project is to evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of an innovative idea and method for moisture and leakage measurement with distributed fiber optic sensor technology. The technology has the potential to monitor large areas and lengths in buildings and
structures in a cost-effective way. Expected results and effects:
The expected result is that it will be clarified whether the proposed idea for a fibre-based moisture and leakage sensor is technically feasible and commercially relevant.
If this is the case, it is expected that we have identified then needs for further development. This will be the foundation for upcoming R&D projects.
Performance goals: Performed lab test showing that the sensor is sensitive to moisture, shown that installation in buildings is feasible and that a low-cost alarm system is possible and investigated technical and commercial applicability. Approach and implementation:
The project will be carried out in close cooperation between the different project members and will be divided into three work packages:
In WP1 a deeper analysis of the needs and benefits, as well as a requirement specification of the sensor technology will be made. In WP2 a concept prototype and a low-cost alarm system will be developed and tested in a lab environment.
In WP3 possible ways of installation will be investigated and we will perform test installations in building units produced by the industrial partners. In WP4 the results will be summarized and evaluated.
