Purpose and goal:
The purpose of the project is to evaluate three innovative auto tracking/control technologies for mmWave 5G backhauling antenna to cope with the beam swing caused by vibrations/wind load through preliminary simulations and measurements on conceptual basic prototypes. The goal is to have analysis and conclusion of the advantages and disadvantages of the technologies, verified by the simulated and measured data, and therefore provide the basis for the selected technology in the full project application that will be submitted in March 2023.
Expected results and effects:
We expect the following effects and results. 1)Prototypes of the systems with the three technologies both in software and hardware; 2) Simulated and measured data, focus on measured data; 3) Analysis of the obtained data and list the advantages and disadvantages of each technology; 4) Propose solutions to avoid or reduce the disadvantages existing for each technology; 5) Preliminary conclusion of the feasibility of each technology.
Approach and implementation:
In this pre-study project, we address the following tasks with three work packages (WPs), focusing on the feasibility (1D tracking/steering) instead of the full performance.
Work Package 1: Initial simulation and analysis of three proposed technologies with initial design of anti-resonance circuit/system. Work Package 2: Prototype and experiment of basic systems on the three technologies. Work Package 3: Evaluation of the feasibility and initially predict of the full performance for each technology.
