Purpose and goal: The project aims to demonstrate how quality assurance can be ensured for advanced metal components manufactured by additive manufacturing via laser powder bed laser fusion. The scope is to ensure additively manufactured materials which mean that details can be optimized in terms of
both static and dynamic properties and finally demonstrate this for selected test objects that can create future options for industrial solutions. Expected results and effects:
Securing both static and mechanical properties will be clarified and opportunities for quality assured optimized products will be shown. Integration of subsequent heat treatment with hot isostatic pressing will also be evaluated. The project is expected to show how design advantages of additive manufacturing can thus be used and products can be realized faster without quality-affecting defects (pores, etc) limiting product quality.
Approach and implementation:
In the project, the additive manufacturing is carried out with the support of technology involving the interaction of the laser beam with the powder during melting using advanced IR technology and spectroscopy to process depict deviations that give rise to defects during manufacturing. With artificial intelligence, digital solutions are then created for defect control with high precision and accuracy.
Control of static and dynamic properties is demonstrated for a new aluminum alloy and a nickel base alloy, both which require subsequent heat treatment to reach product properties.
