The purpose is to communicate research supporting sustainable development of artificial light in our environments.
The goal is to increase awareness of the importance of lighting for sustainable societal developments and contribute to moving from knowlwdge to action by collaboration. The result is lighting environments supporting both humans and nature.
Various communication efforts are required that are activated in own and earned channels, social media and activities such as web-based toolboxes as well as physical and digital workshop methods. The target group is decision makers at local and regional level. Light is particularly complex as it flows freely across property boundaries.
In order to achieve good lighting environments for both humans and nature, public and private actors need to work together.
The project is based on three global sustainability goals: 10-reduced inequality11-sustainable cities and communities15-ecosystems and biological diversityIt is based on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research on lighting: design research on the social effects of light, organizational research on the importance and difficulties of interorganizational collaboration to solve complex problems, and natural science research on the effects of light on ecosystems.
The team includes experienced communicators, practitioners and researchers who previously worked with the Formas project "The city´s collaboration process for the role of light in sustainable urban development".
