Purpose and goal: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **
The purpose of the project is to clarify opportunities and challenges connected to the segment of work machines combustion engines for hydrogen.
Furthermore, the project aims to concretize the introduction of hydrogen as a potential fuel, as well as highlight opportunities around a local/regional production of renewable fuel.
The project shows that there are technical prerequisites for converting existing loaders to hydrogen operation. It has also been shown that a local/regional production of hydrogen can be economically sustainable. Expected results and effects: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **
The project shows that it is technically possible to convert a loader to hydrogen operation. Existing engine can be converted, alternatively replaced with a new hydrogen engine, which basically has the same dimensions as the original engine.
A challenge lies in being able to place a sufficiently large tank on the vehicle. The results show that it is possible to accommodate cylinders with a pressure of 350 bar which enables at least 5 hours of effective work. The project has spread knowledge and increased interest in the use of hydrogen in work machines.
Approach and implementation: ** Denna text är maskinöversatt **
The project has been carried out in close collaboration with Roma Grus AB and Norwegian Hydrogen AS. Based on an existing loader, its use and fuel consumption, the possibility of a hydrogen conversion has been carried out. A final seminar where the results are presented is planned to be held in November 2023.
