Purpose and goal:
The aim of the paper was to examine how cosmetic apps construct ideas of successful ageing to mobilize fear and anxiety about ageing that corresponds with the denigration of ageing. Based on the preliminary results, we argue that the apps provide individually tailored advice that heightens women’s self-awareness and requires them to reflect on how well (or badly) they manage their ageing skin, used to categorise women as "bad" or "good."
Expected results and effects:
By highlighting how these apps tie women to patriarchal standards of beauty, I am able to show how and why this is problematic for ageing women and how it continues to marginalise their power and status in society. Approach and implementation: 1.Data collection and analysis 2. Presentation of data 3. Publication of results
