Brazilian expert on SAR image analysis to Sweden for a common AI project related to surveillance of the Amazon

Purpose and goal:

The purpose of the project was to collaborate within "Big Data" and monitoring to jointly increase our capability and ultimately

to help protect the Amazon region. A computer model developed by Brazilian researchers was integrated into a Big Data platform developed by Saab. The researchers visited Sweden on two occasions and the participants had a lot to learn from each other. Expected results and effects:

During the collaboration, an AI-model, developed by the visiting researchers, was integrated into the Big-data platform and the system was used to analyze a large amount of SAR images. Improvements to the platform were introduced to meet the needs of the current use case and participants learned valuable lessons during the exchange.

Approach and implementation:

The Brazilian researcher visited Sweden in two rounds of two weeks each. Between the two visits, improvements were made to the platform and a large amount of data was collected and analyzed. During the visits to Sweden, the team worked together in the system and on a couple of occasions researchers from Swedish universities were also invited to mutual presentations and dialogue.
