Purpose and goal:
The purpose of this project has been AI-based intelligent disassembly of complex assembled products with a digital twin (AIDDT), to support the remanufacturing process and reach a circular product. This goal is achieved by establishing collaborative publications between Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Chalmers on the topic of intelligent disassembly to support the remanufacturing process and reach circular products.
Expected results and effects:
The outcome of this project is a AI based disassembly digital twin concept. This concept is published as a conference contribution and is presented by a journal publication. The digital twin supports quality control in the remanufacturing process by means of analyzing the disassemblability.
Furthermore, the outcome of the project is publicized by means of scientific presentations at CIRP and by means of research seminars. As a result of this project, Chalmers has established a strategic partnership with KIT within the automated disassembly process domain. Approach and implementation:
The pre-study phase is performed by means of critical literature review in the filed of disassembly and current established methods. The research visit to KIT Institute of Production Science has taken place from January to May 2023. During this time, the project is executed by the research lab facilities, and capabilities in the automated disassembly process at KIT is studied.
Two research seminars has taken place during the course of the project and the outcome and proposed disassembly digital twin concept is presented and the knowledge is shared.
