Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The purpose of the pre study was to find solutions for a sustainable textile system, as the textile and fashion industry is a resource-intensive industry with a large environmental impact in all parts of the value chain. During the project, actors and experts from the entire value chain have gathered, from municipalities to brands, institutes and the non-profit sector.

Together, we have agreed on a common mission, identified effects and a mission. Eight concepts have been deeply developed up to achieve the desired effect and create a system demonstrator for a sustainable industry. Expected results and effects:

Based on the three defined areas, mission and possible goal conflicts have been identified to result in an anchored, well-defined system demonstrator mature for the next phase. The textile value chain has been analyzed and based on the system mapping with a broad anchoring, it has resulted in eight concepts that together will achieve effects such as increased lifetime of garments, reduced extraction of resources and reduced amount of waste.

Together they result in established, profitable and scaled-up, circular business models for a sustainable textile system. Approach and implementation:

Several workshops were carried out for a system mapping, a current situation. Desired effects were identified, and a mission was proposed. Areas were identified for concepts, and these were analyzed further.

Levers linked to concepts with preparation for the next phase. Effect logic was used as a tool throughout the process. The project was expanded with a visualization part and a behavioral scientist followed the project as support for the project team.

The work was carried out with the parties, anchored in an expert group and several open information meetings were held.
