Evaluation of Cirkular Product Standards

Purpose and goal:

Within the project, we have identified circular product standards for various products. The standards that were evaluated within the project were a repairability standard (EN45554) and a remanufacturability standard (EN45553), both valid for energy-related products. During the project, we also touched on a disassembly standard for furniture.

The results from the project were discussed at a hybrid workshop in Stockholm. We have identified several improvement opportunities that we take with us when updating and development of new circular product standards. Expected results and effects:

The project resulted in a better understanding of how circular product standards can be used and improved. In addition, problems were also raised with how today´s products are designed from a circular perspective e.g. disassemblability. The results are disseminated to a number of people who participate in the development of circular product standards as well as within industry organizations and working groups within standardization.

Approach and implementation:

The project was executed in the following manner. At first different circular product standards were identifier. Then some of the circular product standards were selected to be evaluated by applying them on three different products. Finally, we shared the results and take the lessons learned into the next generation of circular product standards.
