Regardless of whether you use aluminum or wood in the frame for the facade elements, there are however several plastic partial beams, which could also provide a clear improvement if you reviewed the choice of material. In the requested project, we intend to study possibilities to replace the fossil-based plastics used today with commercially available bio-based variants in order to further reduce the CO2 footprint.

The project will begin with an inventory of today´s commercial biomaterials which would be relevant for the production of the two plastic parts and a selection of which biomaterial(s) will be used for the study. Subsequently, selected materials will be tested for the manufacture of the two plastic parts and manufactured parts will be evaluated.
