Metals and minerals - for a sustainable society

The project will contribute to Sweden and Europe securing long-term and sustainable access to the strategic metals and minerals needed for a transition to a fossil-free society. The project analyzes issues around primary and secondary extraction, recycling as well as obstacles and target conflicts. The results are presented in factual reports and recommendations to politicians and other decision makers.

Increased knowledge of strategic metals and minerals among actors in the field, politicians, teachers and a wider public.

The project is carried out in different working groups under the leadership of a steering group. The working groups are "Extraction", "Recycling" and "Society Group" (obstacles and target conflicts). Two reference groups are linked to the project; one political and one international. The project runs from November 2022 to December 2024. IVA´s office is in charge of project management and communication.
