Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

Mobilitycenter has, together with Braun Ability and StageIT, developed a prototype to a new assessment tool (DrivCap) for clinical use in driver´s license medical assessment of both cognitive and physical ability. The aim of this project is to conduct a scientific trial of DrivCap to ensure objective and accurate assessments of the ability to drive.

The goal is that DriveCap will be developed into a future commercial product that, at a reasonable price, can be acquired and used in health organizations throughout Sweden and in other countries. Expected results and effects:

DriveCap will give driving licence medical assesments high credibility for the person being tested as all steps are carried out in a driver environment. This will provide high reliability for the assessment as the results will be based on a scientific evaluation. For many clinics, DriveCap will improve the content of the driver´s license medical assesments as similar tools have not been available before.

When the project is completed, DriveCap will be evaluated for validity and reliability, have norm values for people without injury / illness and result-based limit values. Approach and implementation:

Mobility Center is the project manager and responsible for the implementation. The University of Gothenburg is a project partner for supervising the scientific study. AP1- Formulation of project plan for scientific evaluation and ethical application.

AP2- Collection of norm values. 200 healthy people aged 18-100-years who complete the exercises in DriveCap. AP3- Validity and reliability testing. The results from the norm value study are correlated with other proven instruments for cognitive ability, involving 200 patients. AP4 - Compilation of report for publication.
