SIREUS - Strategic Plan

Purpose and goal:

The aim is to expand the SIREUS platform into a horizontal sustainable platform with an emphasis on research and increased talent mobility between Sweden and the USA. The goal is to build on the existing SIREUS strategy. To fulfill the strategic plan, a five-year budget has been drawn up.

We have made estimates of costs for 20232027 and produced an operational plan for 20242025. To succeed, the strategic plan will act as a catalytic mechanism for the transformation of the current SIREUS platform into SIREUS 2.0. Expected results and effects:

We have created a five-year strategic plan to strengthen the academic relationship between Sweden and the USA. The project will be implemented in five phases starting from 2023 to 2027. SIREUS has already shown success regarding goal fulfillment, was established in record time and has already produced several well-attended events and activities.

The SIREUS program is financed by 13 Swedish universities. However, SIREUS 2.0 target all stakeholders within Swedish higher education institutions, therefore, a diversified membership model and a strengthened state funding are needed. Approach and implementation:

The operational strategy for SIREUS 2.0 is collaborating through working groups, carrying out jointly planned activities, proposing annual KPI for the area of interest and following up on activities and achieving results. We have conducted several virtual and personal meetings with SIREUS stakeholders to discuss how the SIREUS 2.0 program can be sustainable and optimized for all stakeholders within Swedish higher education institutions. In addition, a project manager was hired to support and prepare the strategic plan for Vinnova.
