Purpose and goal:
The project aim is to, based on lessons learned and experience from previous ventures in the program, generate new knowledge that can strengthen the metal industry´s opportunities to supply itself with competence. The goal is to gain a broader and deeper understanding of various aspects of competence supply through several differing approaches.
Expected results and effects:
New course material gives students a better understanding of the overall metal production process which adds important skills when they are employed. Knowledgeable teachers and SYV can provide insights that may increase interest in the area.
Better knowledge of target groups that are potentially accessible to the metal industry, and what is required for a location to be perceived as attractive, is expected to improve the precision in recruitment.
Equality mapping gives a more "true" picture of the industry with the goal that fewer people will reject it for the wrong reasons. Approach and implementation:
The project contains five work packages: One is to increase high school students´ interest in relevant higher education courses (eg high school assignments, study visits and activities for teachers), testing hypotesises about the attractiveness of places and about which target groups that are available for the big investments in Norr and Västerbotten. Equality in the metal industry is mapped using a combination of hard (statistical analyses) and soft (interviews) methods and course material on the metal manufacturing process to be produced.
