Purpose and goal:
The Swedish Media Council, Bris and ECPAT join forces in an effort to increase children´s and young people´s safety on the internet. Together we form a so-called Safer Internet Centre with three parts. The Swedish Media Council coordinates the work and acts as a knowledge center, Bris operates the help line for advice and support for children and parents, among other things, regarding problems that children face online, and ECPAT is responsible for a hotline, which is a notification page that receives tips from the public about abuse material on children on the Internet.
Expected results and effects: Children and young people are protected and strengthened as conscious media users.
Parents, guardians and professionals who work with children gain a better understanding of how children use digital content and digital services and how they can reduce risks online Authorities can develop preventive measures with support of the resources and services provided in the project Approach and implementation:
The proposal consists of 10 work packages. No 1 addresses the consortium as such, no 2-6 are dedicated to SMC, no 7-8 to Bris and no 9-10 to ECPAT.
The overall objectives of contributing to a safer Internet for minors will be achieved by executing the content of each work package. The rationale consists of first building the base in order to have the necessary steering and support for the executive elements. This will be achieved by solidifying the infrastructure of SIC Sweden, strengthening relationships both within the consortium and with national and international networks.
