Sweden Canada Innovation Initiative 2023

Purpose and goal:

The Sweden Canada Innovation Initiative is a platform for building long-term relationships and driving further cooperation between Sweden and Canada. The goal is to engage both industry, academia and authorities in exchanges and initiatives to bring the countries closer. An Executive Innovation Team

(EIT) led by Mark Henderson will run activities and met regularly throughout the year. The members of the EIT group are representatives from Swedish subsidiaries in Canada, Embassy, Business Sweden and Vinnova. The goal is to organize Sweden Canada Innovation Days in Montreal Oct 2023. Expected results and effects:

The ambition of the Sweden Canada Innovation Initiative and the EIT group is to identify activities

during the year where EIT can support the members´ own activities as well as organize Sweden Canada Innovation Days in Montreal in October 2023. The theme will be "Green Transition" and is a follow-up to the successful Innovation Days that was organized in Toronto in September 2022, where a broad network of key players in the mining and manufacturing industries from both countries was created.

Approach and implementation:

Business Sweden, together with Mark Henderson will arrange 4 meetings during the year together with the EIT group. All members are encouraged to submit new ideas and

activities to the agenda. Business Sweden will also participate in Vinnova´s webinars Canada Day 2-3 times a year. Business Sweden will provide Vinnova with updates on events in Canada that Vinnova can promote on SCII LinkedIn-sida. Business Sweden is also the project manager for organizing Sweden Canada Innovation Days in Montreal in October 2023, with "Green Transition" as the theme.
