Purpose and goal:
Climate change in cities from a system-changing macro perspective is discussed in a preliminary study by Blekinge Institute of Technology and Tengbom architects on behalf of Vinnova.
We have an ongoing extensive structural imbalance in our civil engineering investments regarding cities where the importance of better new buildings and more energy efficient vehicles is significant, but the climate benefits are being eaten up by wasteful land, material and energy use, urban sprawl, increasing transport and the building stock total growth.
Expected results and effects:
The project´s results are presented in the form of a preliminary research study which includes, among other things, a knowledge overview and analysis (research, analyses and statistics) to discuss what a system-changing macro perspective can mean for sustainable urban development, which can be both climate-problematic and enabling, and points out research fields such as multidisciplinary team consisting of researchers and practicing specialists intensify research regarding connections between climate impact, resource use, mobility and the physical form of the city.
Approach and implementation:
Climate change in cities from a system-changing macro perspective is discussed in a preliminary study with a knowledge overview, on behalf of Vinnova by Blekinge Institute of Technology and Tengbom architects, which partly highlights what system-changing macro perspective can mean for sustainable urban development, both climate-problematic and enabling, and partly points out research fields where multidisciplinary teams consisting of researchers and practicing specialists study connections between climate impact, resource use, mobility and the physical form of the city.
