Sensor-based management of bioprocesses for infection control

The overall objective of the project was to evaluate the feasibility of a full-scale development project. In meetings with industry and RISE, concrete problems and needs for automated process monitoring of bioprocesses were identified. Potential technology solutions were identified based on literature, strategic analysis and interviews with technology suppliers.

The result for the project was knowledge transfer of the industry´s need for sensor-based technologies for bioprocesses, and a compilation of current technologies that can meet the industry´s eligibility requirements. It was established that there is still a gap between what is required and what can be measured.

The structure of the project was digital meetings between the biotechnology companies and RISE. Processes and challenges the companies had were discussed in detail. At the next meeting, RISE had investigated methods and proposed solutions.

This became an iterative process. In the latter part of the project, workshops were carried out between the need owner and the technology company where methods and solutions were discussed. The method we used was appreciated by the companies and by the researchers at RISE.
