Pilot study - Scaling of Demand Accelerator

Purpose and goal:

The purpose of the preliminary study was to map the market conditions for the dissemination of the demand acceleration model and to develop a plan for how scaling and distribution should take place, with a financially sustainable business model. Overall, after the preliminary study, we expected to be able to draw conclusions about the conditions for an initial scaling step, indicative conditions for subsequent steps, and to develop a plan for scaling and distribution.

Expected results and effects:

The preliminary study aimed for at least one LOI for a demand acceleration case. One municipality has conducted a market analysis (including RFI) using the method. Another has secured innovation procurement checks for a similar analysis, while a third plans to apply for such checks in September. A municipality is crafting a broader strategy rooted in this method, intending to involve the city´s business sector. Preliminary discussions are also underway with six more organizations.

Approach and implementation:

The preliminary study was conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews with stakeholders and potential strategic partners, nationally and internationally. During the course of the study, a business model emerged that is based on ecosystem development linked to demand acceleration, including, among other things, the development, further development, and management of shared development resources, termed as ´innovation commons´.

The aim is to encourage a balance between competition and collaboration to streamline the dissemination and further development of the model
