Purpose and goal:

The project´s aim to gather forces across disciplines of actors and build a proposal for a national program office for mission-driven project to achieve good and equal health through sustainable production and development of diagnostics and medicines for future well-functioning societies, was well met. The project led to new networks and interactions of parties from healthcare, basic research in mathematics, machine learning, diagnostics, cell biology and physics to expertise in cancer, production systems, global health, formulation, automation & scale-up of production.

Expected results and effects:

The result of the process of gathering forces nationally and building a proposal for a nationally distributed program office with broad roots in industry and academia were successful. The final proposal with a program office centrally located at a technical university but closely connected with nodes at 6 geographically and sectorally dispersed universities, 3 trade associations, 2 national research infrastructures, a global pharmaceutical company and a global company in heavy industry, is expected to provide several entry points for new mission-driven solutions across sectors

Approach and implementation:

The initial consortium has held regular meetings and workshops during the project period in order to gather perspectives and unite around possible solutions towards a common mission at the same time as needs regarding system changes and forms for establishing program offices have developed. Continuously, more parties have been added with perspectives and experiences for the design of proposal.

The project was successful, but would have been carried out even more efficiently if all the details of the call for proposals, which were updated continuously, had been known from the start.
