WAVE - Water for Vital Environments

Purpose and goal:

The project´s aim has been to mobilize actors with commitment for a paradigm shift in how we manage water. The goal was to design a proposal for a powerful program for actor- and mission-driven system innovation for water management towards the vision "Sustainable Water for All 2050". The concrete result of the preparatory project is an application for a new strategic innovation program to the call for Impact Innovation.

Expected results and effects: The project has resulted in a strong program proposal and application to Impact Innovation.

The program proposal gathers 6 partners and 54 actors from the public and private sector, research and innovation as well as NGOs from relevant sectors. Their commitment is manifested through significant co-funding as well as a large number of hours in-kind to drive the transition through the program.

The program has a transition logic, program structure and organization for actor- and mission-driven system innovation for sustainable water management. Approach and implementation: The project has been actor-driven, open and inclusive. The main parts were to:

i) Engage relevant actors in order to drive the transition through the program. All sectors of society and business have shown great engagement and support in the preparatory phase.

ii) Develop a program structure, transition logic and organization for the program. The necessary organizations and competences to drive this in the program office have been identified and engaged to prepare the strongest possible program proposal. iii) Write an application and send it to Vinnova in accordance with the call.
