Internet of Things Jönkoping County

Purpose and goal:

The purpose of the project is to establish a long-term IoT initiative in Jönköping County based on a county-wide IoT platform that all participating organizations in the initiative have access to. The project involves Region Jönköping, the county´s 13 municipalities, several municipal companies, municipal associations and the County Administrative Board.

The goal of the project is to take the already started county-wide IoT initiative from pilot project to long-term management and develop Jönköping County into a more accessible, safer and more resource-efficient county. Expected results and effects:

The project aims to result in a developed concept for large-scale introduction and management of IoT at county level. This includes, among other things, the introduction of a county-wide IoT platform, the establishment of a county-wide management and support organization, the scaling up of successful IoT applications as well as developing business agreements and cost distribution models that enable the scaling of IoT at the county level.

The hope is that the developed concept can be spread and used in more municipalities and regions around Sweden. Approach and implementation:

The work is run and coordinated by a project management constellation together with Region Jönköpings County. The overall decisions for the direction of the project are made by a steering group. The introduction of the county-wide IoT platform is driven by an introduction group.

Knowledge dissemination and cooperation between all 13 municipalities in the county is run by a coordination group that holds the concept together. A total of 55 organizations participate in the project and, in addition, the Stockholm School of Economics is involved as an external reviewer.
