Purpose and goal:
Digitalization is one of the prioritized areas within the health care community. Wound healing progression is often assessed through in person visits or in a health care facility. Remote monitoring of wound healing status can supplement clinicians in diagnostics as well as remotely get confirmation of successful therapies and interventions.
The purpose with the project is to explore and identify relevant biological and physiological parameters that are able early detect signs of infection. The goal is to develop a graphene-based sensor measuring infection correlated parameters. Expected results and effects:
Infection is one of the reasons for wounds going into a chronic state. Remote monitoring of wounds gives the clinician ability to handle patients much better and cuts down on unnecessary visits. Detection of early signs of infection can lead to quicker intervention, reducing overall risk and healing time for the patient, and requiring less healthcare resources.
It will also reduce hospital readmission rates by promoting patient safety after being discharged from the healthcare facility. The expected result is a graphene-based sensor prototype tested in lab conditions. Approach and implementation:
The project will be organized with an operational team and a reference team. The operational team will perform the actual research work. The reference team are subject matter experts in relevant areas and is responsible for supporting in scientific questions, being a sounding board towards interfacing areas, clinical relevance etc.
The planning and execution of each work package will be done by the operational team. The project manager is responsible for communicating progress and potential risks to the steering committee.
