Most traditional organic luminescent materials are 2D molecules, which may suffer from low photostability and aggregation-caused quenching.
In this study, we aim to develop a group of new luminescent molecules by conjugating 2D aromatic N-heterocycle with 3D aromatic boron clusters, investigate the influence of special geometry on their properties, and explore their potential in bioimaging.
Piolet experiments show that they are bright solid-state emitters, and their emission colors can be easily tuned by molecular engineering, which suggests the promising future of this project.
This project will be finished in two years and is expected to bring new understanding to probe design and provide novel tools for bioimaging.
