Grant Description

For over 20-years Space Weather is a rapidly growing research field.

There is a growinginterest from governments, service providers and industry that Space Weather researchshould be more focused on societal needs, and that research efforts be optimized in closecontact and coordination with the stakeholders utilizing space assets.

Thus, internationalauthorities like the UN, COSPAR, WMO and others have started efforts to coordinate andconsolidate both research and operation activities, to better serve our growingly technologydependent society. This project deals with the coordination of space weather research andoperational efforts.

Through Swedish membership in the organisations above, and withSwedish involvements in missions of space agencies like ESA and NASA, such consolidationefforts will be beneficial for the Swedish scientists.

It will allow them to better identify timelyinvestments into new space missions and research opportunities of wider societal impacts.
