Purpose and goal:
The assembly of threaded inserts (Helicoil) is today usually a manual work step which is repetitive, causing injuries and high staff turnover. The purpose of the project is to create an automation solution that handles the above problems and challenges. The goal is to develop a flexible, cost-effective and collaborative automation solution for the assembly of threaded inserts (Helicoil), specifically adapted for collaborative robots (cobots).
Expected results and effects:
The project will bring to the market a flexible, cost-effective and collaborative automation solution for the assembly of threaded inserts (Helicoil), specifically adapted for collaborative robots (cobots). Cobotech will produce and sell a standardised robotic cell to end-users, primarily sub-suppliers to automotive and adjacent industries.
Approach and implementation:
Cobotech´s main contribution to the Eurostars project is to develop a robotic cell for thread inserts assembly (Helicoil). The project is divided into different work packages in which different development activities are being carried out. One key contribution to the project is that Cobotech will test and help develop SpinCoil in a real-life environment and at three demonstrator sites. We will provide key customer insight from customers that are using manually processes for inserting Helicoil.
