DelA – explorative prototypes in cohousing, coliving and beyond

The project DelA – explorative prototypes in cohousing, coliving and beyond will explore and develop models for collective living. These prototypes, which through community and affordability can contribute to socially sustainable housing for all.

The development will include forms of coliving, reinterpretations of the renowned collective housing typology and hybrids in between. The prototypes explore both the built form, the architecture,  and the intangible solutions. The work will be exploratory and propose new solutions.

It will have a strong user-centered core throughout the process, and grow out of collaboration between stakeholders, researchers and architects.The goal is to develop architectural prototypes and intangible solutions that can be implemented in the private, public and cooperative/for-benefit housing sector in Sweden.The project is carried out in thematic work packages (AP) that build on each other: AP1 User perspective, AP2 Architecture, AP3 Intangible solutions and finally AP4 Synthesis.Project partners are Svenska arkitekturinstitutet, KTH, Stockholms Stadsmission and Bokoop.

The collaboration is based on an in-depth knowledge of the complex housingsystem, combined with innovative skillset to explore alternative niches with the potential to change the regime.

Partners will be able to work challenge-driven and close to reality, as well as reap insights from all stages from ideation to actual living situations.
