Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

The cutting process involves a tool, workpiece, and machine tool, which suggests developing a Process Condition Monitoring system (PCM) that includes TCM and WSM as subsystems, which generally formulates the goal of this project.

Development of a flexible and adaptive Process Condition Monitoring system for online monitoring of the workpiece condition on the grey cast iron brake disks production line. Expected results and effects:

Development of PCM system that allows online control of the workpiece status along the production line, starting from the blanks received from the warehouse until the finished product. The first component WSM system, as a subsystem of PCM, will perform the estimation of material machinability and blanks status as well as the quality of the product. The second subsystem, TCM, will be a part of the WSM subsystem and will perform an assessment of a tool status at the machining stages of the production line.

Approach and implementation: WP0 Coordination and administration WP1 Data collection and management WP2 Development of the material model WP3 Development of monitoring lines/subsystems for WSM and TCM WP4 Development of Measurement block WP5 Integration of the solutions into PCM: Flexibility and Adaptability

WP 6 Dissemination of result All WPs will be performed in parallel with some delay and by several groups.
