Development of Automation for Industrialized Timber Construction in Canada

Purpose and goal:

The purpose has been to offer knowledge and technology for automation in industrialized construction (IC) to the Canadian market. The goal was to establish contact and exchange with Canadian companies as well as the Canadian administration. Expected results and effects:

Takt Time Modular and Industrialized Construction Sweden have established networks with Canadian companies and carried out work to transfer Swedish know-how in modular production and automation. Networks have been established and meetings been conducted with the Canadian administration. Approach and implementation:

Activities:

1. Meeting in Canada between Canadian automation supplier and an IC supplier from New Brunswick facilitated by ICS and TTM.

2. Meeting in the US with the Canadian IC supplier to showcase the automation installed there by TTM, while ICS discussed BIM information feed to the lines.

3. Established relation with another IC supplier in Nova Scotia and visited them to discuss product strategies and development.

4. Discussed results and future plans with local administration in Nova Scotia as well as the Minister of Housing in Canada.
