A more sustainable city development through a better standard for strategic requirements in land allocation

Purpose and goal:

In order to develop Sweden´s land allocation process RISE has brought together municipalities, construction companies and stakeholders supported by a reference group from SKR and Boverket among others. The aim is to develop a first version of a common standard for strategic requirements and achieve a more sustainable construction and civil engineering sector.

The goal is to make it easier for municipalities and the construction industry to, (i) reduce matching losses, (ii) strengthen communication between parties and (iii) find the same wording for requirements. Expected results and effects:

The project is expected to contribute to increased sustainability by developing a common standard for strategic requirements in land allocation and ensuring its long-term management and development. If the project is realised it is expected to become the leading framework for planning, designing and following up land allocations in Sweden, which can lead to efficiency gains and better sustainability management.

With a systematised system that gives the opportunity to steer towards urban development goals there are also opportunities for international export and collaboration. Approach and implementation:

The issues will be addressed in work packages with project partners and experts. Each work package is led by a project manager who reports to the project´s management and ensures that information is synchronized between the work packages. The owners of the needs will be involved in the work packages through workshops to jointly develop solutions that can then be tested in their own operations to validate the quality.

Work packages included; project management, monitoring of the environment, standard for strategic requirements, management and updating of SFSK and communication.
