Purpose and goal:
The project LivsVerk aim to improve circularity, increase service life and reduce unexpected downtime in die casting. The overall goals are to develop a method for remanufacturing tool inserts as well as to increase availability in the die casting machine and increase the life of die casting tools. Expected results and effects:
We see potential for many effects of the project. Some of these are: New circular business models for casting tools Increased tool life More robust production through reduced number of unprepared stops Description of different strategies and LCA of these for remanufacturing, maintenance and wear analysis
Approach and implementation:
The consortium includes a research institute, a university and several necessary parties that work in the value chain related to die casting. The main activities in the project are:
Design of die-casting tools where the goal is to increase the service life and reduce the need for maintenance by choosing the right tool steel with needs-based surface treatments for each part of the tool. Prepare a basis through testing for the choice of maintenance and how maintenance needs are identified.
Demonstrate in real die casting the effect of the above points. LCA of the above activities
