Purpose and goal:
The project is conducted within the frames of the Vinnova Competence centre CA2.The main goal of the project was to assess the potential of using computational tools based on the CALPHAD method to predict the cracking susceptibility of Ni-base alloys. This was done by comparing calculations with experimental information from LPBF built alloys, for selected alloys.
Expected results and effects:
The project has shown that calculations provide reliable predictions of cracking susceptibility of Ni-base alloys for additive manufacturing. Work has also shown where further studies are needed, and where new experimental studies are of interest. Approach and implementation:
A few selected commercial alloys have been used for the study. They range from well printable to very crack sensitive. Different types of models for assessment of crack sensitivity have been tested.
