How can we help expand the boundary of creativity in the age of Artificial Intelligence?
Ada Research focuses on negotiations with ongoing technological advances in artificial intelligence, VR, and vision algorithms and how they reshape our creative possibilities and subjectivity. The project is a virtual reality game and a meta-quest into ever-more-powerful algorithms.
In the game world, created throughout the project, the player explores algorithms, ranging from noise and randomness to procedural worlds and artificial intelligence.
By challenging the cultural boundaries of game worlds, often driven by norms and cliches, and queering the margins of digital worlds and platforms, the project seeks to explain and create unconventional content and unseen forms.
In collaboration with researchers from the Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm, the Design Academy Eindhoven, and several artists, the project aims to develop new ways to think about algorithms. The project spans the transdisciplinary fields of art, science, and the future of industry and subjectivity.
The project includes the VR world, exhibited installations, a book, and a game wiki, aiming to widen how researchers, artists, students, and other users understand and engage with algorithms.
Building on the idea of entropy and inspired by visual thinking in mathematics and art, the goal is to expand our understanding of contemporary creative conditions through reading at the margin of cultural production.
