The Scandinavian Applied Measurement Conference (SAMC) aims to facilitate interaction and knowledge exchange among Swedish and international researchers, practitioners, and students concerned with category-based measurement. The SAMC theme is applied measurement, focusing on the development, evaluation and quality assurance of rating scales and other category-based measurement and assessment instruments.
Emphasis will be directed towards person-centred measurement, which focuses on the role of the individual person in the measurement process and analyses, as well as the use and interpretation of results at the level of the individual person. This is contrast to traditional methods that rely on group level analyses.
The conference will be multidisciplinary and cover fields such as educational science, health science, psychology, and sociology.
As such, SAMC is expected to focus on all three of the Forte research areas, health, work life, and welfare.A program committee with researchers from Kristianstad University, University of Copenhagen, RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden), and Linnaeus University will be responsible for the organization of the conference.
The committee members have extensive experience in the field.
For instance, for ten years they have arranged an annual small-scale workshop within the area (PMhealth; www.hkr.se/pmhealth).
The conference will be equivalent to two full days, starting and ending at lunch (i.e., lunch-to-lunch-to-lunch), thus facilitating travel to and from the conference.
One keynote speaker will be invited, and the remainder of the program will consist of presentations selected from submitted abstracts. Poster presentations will also be offered. No parallel sessions are planned.
The target group is persons working with the use, development, evaluation and quality assurance of category-based measurement and assessment instruments. The number of participants is expected to be about 60 persons.
