This application aims to promote the continued development of Swedish research on social innovation in relation to health, welfare and working life, by arranging a national research conference on knowledge status and research fronts in the field.
Social innovation has emerged as an interdisciplinary research field in Sweden and internationally in recent decades, in order to increase knowledge about innovative solutions to complex societal challenges such as ill-health, unemployment, segregation, etc.
The conference is organized by Forum for Social Innovation Sweden (Mötesplats Social Innovation, MSI), which is a national knowledge and collaboration platform with headquarters at Malmö University and with regional nodes at Luleå University of Technology, Umeå University, Örebro University, Jönköping University and Malmö University.
MSI has, among other things, initiated networks for researchers in social innovation at national and regional levels, with over a hundred researchers from universities throughout the country.
Through this application, MSI intends to gather these and other researchers for the first time for a national research conference, which was previously impossible due to a lack of resources.
The intention is to gather at least 40 researchers and at least 20 other societal actors from the public sector, civil society and business for an on-site, full-day conference in Malmö at the end of November 2023, with potential hybrid elements for those who cannot participate on-site.
The conference will include keynote lectures by prominent international researchers in the field, panel discussions between researchers and societal actors, and parallel sessions with scientific paper presentations.
