Purpose and goal:
The project goal was to investigate the possiblity to construct and fly a 3D-printed radio-controlled demonstrator similar to an earlier version built in carbon fiber. The project has been carried out as a degree project with supervision from both LiU and Saab. One flight was carried out at Bråvalla airfield. This gave expected results and at the same time the insight that there is potential for further development of this type of demonstrator. The project goals are thus considered fulfilled.
Expected results and effects:
From a technical perspective, the developed type of flying demonstrator will be able to support the development of next-generation combat aircraft. It is a cost-effective alternative with great potential which can reduce the risk of exploration more innovative solutions.
The project has resulted in the Swedish participation in a NATO project, which strengthens both national and international networking, which could benefit Swedish aeronautical research in the future as a research partner. Approach and implementation:
On the whole, the project was carried out as planned. The project has been run in five work packages, three of which have been of a technical nature. These have been run as a degree project, which started a little late but finished on time with a flight at Bråvalla as the final. In addition to that, project management was one work package and lessons learned was the last package. Within the project, a reference group meeting was held during the second half to show the project´s progress.
