Health of Self-employed - differences between subgroups

The research visit will take place in the 3rd and 4th quartile of 2024 with a duration of six months. In these six months, the visiting researcher (Dr. Gevaert) and the hosting researcher (Assoc Prof.

Bodin) will collaborate in three areas: a research project on self-employment and health outcomes, continuation of an existing research project (GIG-OSH) about occupational health and safety in the platform economy, and the organisation of knowledge exchange in the form of workshop/lectures and identifying future research projects and applications.

In this capacity, the research visit will contribute to the visiting researcher – who is a sociologist – access to Swedish registry data, as well as expertise on occupational health and medicine.

In the other direction, the host institution will benefit from the visiting researchers’ expertise on self-employment and entrepreneurship research, which has so far been an underdeveloped area of research within the host institution’s research activities.
