This proposal concerns Associate Professor Roger Keller Celeste from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, who will visit the Aging Research Center (ARC), Karolinska Institutet, for a six-month period during 2024.
The purpose is to continue and extend our collaboration by developing a new research project that investigates differential vulnerability with the aim to increase our understanding of health inequalities as people age.
We will study socioeconomic differences in risk factors, disease incidence, and decompose the direct and indirect effects of socioeconomic status, with a focus on older adults. Dr.
Keller Celeste has an extensive training in Epidemiology and Biostatistics with broad experience in research on social determinants of health.
He works with advanced statistical methods for modelling longitudinal data and has published widely on social and behavioral determinants of health. His excellent statistical skills are and have been of great use for ARC both in research and in education. We have a long-standing collaboration and Dr Keller Celeste has visited us on several occasions.
The proposed research stay includes research activities, seminars and teaching, during April to September 2024.
Beside research, he will also offer courses in longitudinal statistical modelling to doctoral students and researchers at ARC and be available for statistical consultations during his research stay.
