Grant Description

This application concerns the funding of costs associated with being a visiting researcher for six months at the Department of Management and International Business at the University of Auckland Business School.

My research project focuses on the timely question of what brings us together across cultural boundaries, overcomes immigrants’ outsidership, and improves team work processes despite ethnocentrism, stereotyping or cultural misunderstandings when working together in a multicultural society.

Internationally renowned and competent scholars in New Zealand and Australia, who have insights about intercultural interaction at work in societies characterized by a multicultural composition, could provide me with skills and knowledge that are highly beneficial at this stage in my research.

Being a guest researcher in this high-caliber research environment would enable me to hone my theory development skills, accumulate knowledge, and develop my writing. In my program as a guest researcher I will have the unique opportunity to discuss ideas, present papers, receive and give constructive feedback, engage in seminars and workshops as well as to develop a more in-depth understanding of team collaboration at multicultural workplaces.

To broaden my knowledge base, I plan to visit the “Centre for Applied Cross-Cultural Research” at Victoria University of Wellington, attend a conference at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, as well as meet with the research group on “migration, ethno-racial, cultural and intersectionality at work” at the University of Sydney Business School.

My ambition is to finalize a theory development article on promoting good work collaboration for all.

The overall purpose of my visit as a guest researcher is to develop hands-on skills and accumulate knowledge that can be shared with my colleagues in the International Business group at the Department of Business Studies.
