Chronic cardiovascular conditions and associated multimorbidity form a significant burden on patients and carers as well as on society and the healthcare system. Integrated models of care delivery may contribute to reducing this burden.
Professor Hendriks, Flinders University is an internationally recognized researcher with an expertise in the development of novel models of care delivery, based on the concept of integrated care. Prof.
Hendriks is also an expert in the care delivery for patients with atrial fibrillation (most prevalent heart rhythm disorder) and redesigning practice to implement such models of care.During his stay at Linköping University, he will work with our research group for 2 months.
The research group is a regional research network (http://www.cesar-network.com/) with approximately 30 senior and junior researchers in cardiovascular care at Linköping University, Linnaeus University, Jönköping University, and south-eastern healthcare region. Professor Hendriks is a member of this group and has collaborated with the group previously.
Prof.
Hendriks will hold three half-day seminars at the Department of Health, Medical and Caring Sciences, LiU; the Department of Cardiology, Linköping University Hospital; at the CESAR Network; and nationally through multidisciplinary networks including the regions Sörmland, Stockholm, and Ösergötland.
Moreover, he will share his expertise and will offer doctoral students and junior researchers in the research network individual supervision.During the stay, Prof.
Hendriks will work on two projects:A study on the relationship between atrial fibrillation and heart failure to determine the fundamentals for an integrated model of care delivery for patients with these conditions.Development of a research proposal for a future trial for feasibility testing and validations of the proposed model of care.
