Public Organizing, Management, Accounting and Auditing (POMAA) is an international research seminar organized by the School of Public Administration, University of Gothenburg and will take place on 14-15 May 2024 at the School of Public Administration.
The purpose of the seminar is to highlight current themes in public sector organizing, provoke dialogue as well as facilitate a critical assessment of current trends in welfare.
The welfare sector has faced major challenges in the form of first a longstanding pandemic, the consequences of the war in Ukraine, and thereby the financial restraints.
Perennial issues such as financial challenges, digital transformation, sustainability, democratic participation and quality in public value creation and delivery in core welfare sectors such as health care, education, elderly care and social work are however still in need of critical assessment. The purpose is to illuminate current issues from a variety of empirical, methodological, and theoretical perspectives.
The seminar welcomes contributions on diverse aspects of welfare sector organizing in relation to these current challenges and trends. Different theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches are welcome. The ambition is to attract scholars from a multitude of disciplines.
Potential themes for contributions include, but are not limited to: Welfare creation and delivery, public values and value creation, democratic participation, citizenship engagement, interorganizational governance, welfare professions, relationships between different stakeholder groups, co-production and co-delivery of public services, public organizing and society, social, environmental and financial sustainability, anthropocene materiality and public organizing, digitalization, crises and disasters.
