Grant Description

IFAU plans to organize a research meeting and policy talks on active labor market policies in September 2024. The event will consist of two parts.

A one-day research conference offers an opportunity for researchers to present and discuss recent research on active labor market topics and related areas. It will include paper presentations selected by a scientific committee through an open call for papers. A keynote presentation by a leading international scholar is also planned.

Additionally, we will invite contributions from prominent researchers in the field from Denmark, Germany, the UK, France, and within Sweden. The program will include several 30-minute presentations and shorter 15-minute presentations.

The interaction between international and Swedish researchers should help to promote and develop research on the impacts of labor market policies in Sweden. The second part of the meeting is a one-day policy-oriented segment, which will engage a broader audience, including researchers from the first part and people from the policy sphere, including politics, government agencies, and other organizations.

It will feature concise presentations of research topics particularly relevant to the Swedish policy debate and joint discussion of these papers. A panel discussion on the future challenges of active labor market programs and public policy will also be included.

Leveraging insights from invited international scholars, this part will also include brief talks on international perspectives regarding future challenges for active labor market polices. We anticipate a total of 100 participants, including researchers and policymakers.

Notable organizations like Arbetsförmedlingen, Arbetsmarknadsdepartmentet, Finansdepartementet, and others involved in shaping labor market policy are expected to express significant interest.

Bringing together Swedish and international scholars, along with policymakers, aims to stimulate nuanced policy discussions.
