Sweden’s goal is to become climate-neutral by 2045. Only profound changes in our consumption habits can help us meet this ambitious goal.
However, this requires a transformation of the whole society, and challenges must be tackled urgently. This project brings together applied research in consumer preferences, a systematic study of business cases and practical software development skills to build a digital platform for clothing repairs.
At the core of the platform is the network connecting actors such as craftspeople, delivery services or parcel lockers operators with end users. We shall develop, test and implement a digital platform for clothing repairs.
The objectives of the project are:Develop a scalable digital platform for clothing repairs, linking a network of tailors, users and delivery services;Investigate consumer preferences and willingness-to-pay for repairs in revealed- and stated-preference experiments to ensure scalability of the platform;Build and test business cases for the platform and surrounding ecosystem actors to ensure its long-term economic sustainability;Plan a long-term strategy for further development of the platform, by linking research results with capacities built in step 1.Our long-term vision is a real-life transformation of clothing consumption habits, making repair and maintenance an attractive and accessible choice for broad consumer groups in Sweden and abroad.
