Market adaptation of software for the recognition of adverse events in healthcare

Purpose and goal:

P3S - Patient Safety Surveillance Solutions, is a start-up company that provides a software suite for automated surveillance of healthcare associated infections and complications after surgery. The purpose of this project is to develop the software, including code review, documentation and user interface. It also aims to put a management and support function in place.

Expected results and effects:

We anticipate that development of the software will lead to more robust code, easier configuration of new clients, logging of code changes, full relational database, improved user interface. All these will be important expected outcomes as we will implement the software in 2025 at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm.

Approach and implementation:

In the proposal, we have requested funding for three people in-house, each representing 10% of an annual working time for the project. It is likely that we will need to change the allocation and reduce the internal hours and outsource the corresponding hours to an external IT consultant.
